Hitman Go is Agent 47’s first outing on mobile devices and Square Enix’s reimagining if the brand does not disappoint. Moving away from the standard 3rd person shooter, Hitman Go sees you playing a turn based strategy game in the shape of a board game. The characters take the form of beautiful little board game pieces each with their own abilities and attributes.
Each level has a certain objective either reach your target or a target location. To achieve these objectives you take the role of agent 47 and move him around the grid based map one move at a time while in turn avoiding the guards site and moving into them to take them out.
At first the levels are simple and you have to avoid one or two guards but as the game progress multiple guards are implemented and their abilities become enhanced. Guard dogs chase you around the map and thugs trying to stab you. However with this 47 has his own methods of fighting off and avoiding the enemies. Sniper rifles and silenced pistols are available to take out the guards and throwing cans to distract and alter the movement of guards means you can move around the map more freely to reach your objective.
Along with the main missions 47 has side missions that must be completed to collect enough points to unlock the next level set in the form of a new board game. These missions often are to complete a level I’m a certain amount of moves or less, kill all the guards or none at all and collecting briefcases that are littered around the maps.
Simple yet challenging gameplay along with the game being visually beautiful means that Hitman Go is a relaxing yet fun game which can provide hours of fun. Overall this give fans of the Hitman series a fantastic game for mobile devices, instead of having a 3rd person shooter put onto mobile devices that would ultimately disappoint, along with this it gives casual mobile gamers a great introduction to the franchise.
Hitman Go is now available on iOS and Android devices.
